AIP-21: Supporting statements for the mission
1. Summary
AIP-18 made peace AssangeDAO’s mission. This proposal adds a vision, a set of values, and a short test for whether a piece of work fits the mission, so that holders, signers and applicants read the mission the same way.
2. Motivation
A mission says what the DAO is for. It does not say how to judge a proposal or a request for funds when the case is unclear. Most DAOs publish a few supporting statements for this. AssangeDAO’s earlier drafts of these (t/285) were never voted on.
3. Proposal Details
Vision
A world in which truth reduces the power of lies to start wars, and no one who speaks for peace has to stand alone.
Values
- Neutrality: we neither support nor oppose any political party, government, or candidate.
- Solidarity: the worldwide network that helped win Julian Assange his freedom is our model.
- Truth as the method: we pursue peace by making facts public and checkable.
- Open coordination: cryptography and public process, not closed deals.
- Accountability: every treasury action is posted in full before it is signed, so any holder can check it, unless an AIP provides otherwise.
- Dignity: we don’t use war or suffering to promote the DAO or the token.
The mission test
A proposal, project or grant fits the mission when the answer to all four questions is yes:
- Does it help resolve conflict or build understanding, or support people who speak up for peace?
- Does it respect the neutrality principle?
- Can the people receiving support lawfully accept it?
- Will they report back publicly on what was done?
These statements are published alongside the mission on the DAO’s website. They can be amended by a later AIP. This vote authorizes no treasury spending.
4. Voting Options
