New AssangeDAO Draft Website - Please provide feedback / suggestions

Hi Everyone

I am working on a new website for AssangeDAO.

It’s currently just a rough draft - once we have the overall design / structure agreed on I will upload it to Github. If the community is in agreement we can then make it live on AssangeDAO.org.

Development site, rough draft: https://clocknft.com/dao/index.html
May contain bugs or incorrect text/content. I am currently just temporarily hosting it live on the ClockNFT domain for testing purposes.

Currently there are just 3 different pages
1 - main page
2 - Justice token page (embeds Uniswap swap feature, and coingecko API to get JUSTICE token stats)
3 - clock page

I would like feedback on - overall design/theme (colors, structure)
and then once that is agreed upon I can clean it up and we can also look at adding further pages or features, and then cleaning up the content (text).

In the future we can look at adding a custom Uniswap feature (for example right now as it’s the official Uniswap embed on our Justice Token page, the colors/style match Uniswap, which is fine) - if we built one from scratch using Uniswap API we could theoretically match our color scheme/style and also a optional checkbox that says something like ‘Add 0.25% fee donation to Assange DAO treasury’ which users could uncheck.

Also in the future we can look at using integrating the Snapshot.box API into our website to allow people to vote on proposals directly on AssangeDAO website instead of going to https://snapshot.box/#/s:assangedao.eth to vote.

Though those would require quite a lot of work so I want to just focus on the overall design/theme/structure of the new AssangeDAO website for now, and then move onto the content (text), and then more advanced features last.

  1. How about censored NFT? Can you make a link for it?

  2. One of Pak’s concepts in designing CLOCK NFT was to stop the clock when Assange was freed. So how do we define his freedom? Will it be the day he gets out of jail or the possible day he gets a pardon?CLOCK’s clock is still ticking.

  3. Website design: I think it can be made into two themes: past and future. The process of realizing AIP-1 is included in the past section, and the new governance and new core mission are included in the future section. The past section uses a lot of black background to represent the heavy mission and hard times. The future part uses a lot of white background to represent pioneering and light.

Im being picky about a few of those sentences.

On June 24 2024, Julian Assange was released from Belmarsh Prison, in London after securing a plea deal with U.S. prosecutors.

By bankrolling his release, the AssangeDAO fulfilled its mission to secure his freedom by any means necessary.

  • Does ths need to be said as I assume the website will continually be updated as required down the track and the DAO will always be in a state of revitalisation ?

  • Maybe just cull

If extradited to the United States, Assange faced up to 175 years in prison for publishing accurate information. (past tense)

The main page should mention his Pardon situation in the About Assange DAO section? For example

Advocacy groups continue to press for a U.S. presidential pardon for Julian Assange, citing his release in June 2024 as a step toward justice.

The Clock NFT did get updated by Pak, it now counts Julian’s days free (since June 26th when he arrived home in Australia), right now it says ‘Three Hundred Four’. The NFT itself was never ‘broken’ however websites displaying it used a ‘cached’ version of it (so it was almost always loading an older version of it) this is because it is a very unique NFT in that it actually isn’t just a static image, but it changes every day to show a new dynamically generated image (SVG)

We can clarify this better on the main page of the DAO’s website.

As for the other ‘Censored’ NFTs made by Pak - Perhaps we could link to them but the DAO did not collaborate with Pak on those. Only the 1 of 1 NFT.

One of the DAO’s next steps is for the community to vote on a new Mission statement I believe.

For the Mission Statement I believe that is one of the next steps, it could be something like:

The mission of the AssangeDAO is to champion truth, transparency, justice, and freedom of information worldwide. Inspired by Julian Assange’s legacy, we unite cypherpunks, activists, and advocates to protect whistleblowers, defend press freedom, expose injustice, and advance projects and values championed by Assange, through decentralized solidarity and action.

(I will leave the old mission statement on the website because this is definitely something that the community has to vote on)

Re Clock NFT

Not certain if some of these links are on the draft website.

On the FAQ page - this info is outdated now.

After community review, elected snapshot authors submit them to Snapshot for voting.

Depending on the platform to be selected in future, there may not be “elected” authors and I don’t think anybody was an elected author actually beforehand - they were originally selected or volunteered during the pre voting period.

The mission statement is good. Id be happy with that.

“The mission of the AssangeDAO is to champion truth, transparency, justice, and freedom of information worldwide. Inspired by Julian Assange’s legacy, we unite cypherpunks, activists, and advocates to protect whistleblowers, defend press freedom, expose injustice, and advance projects and values championed by Assange, through decentralized solidarity and action.”

‘On 24 June 2024, Julian Assange was released from Belmarsh prison following a plea deal with U.S. prosecutors. By raising 16,593 ETH, the AssangeDAO provided critical financial support for the legal and campaign efforts that secured his freedom. The DAO is now undergoing a revitalization to advance its renewed mission, as advocacy groups continue to push for a U.S. presidential pardon, viewing his release as a vital step toward justice.’

Is this better? It’s mainly to provide an update that the DAO is back active and must now vote on an updated mission statement.

Capital P for Prison

Yep - being an aussie I’d go for revitalisation spelling.

I did add the Safe/Multisig link in the menu as ‘Treasury’

Though I didn’t link to https://etherscan.io/nft/0xDa22422592Ee3623c8d3c40Fe0059CdEcF30CA79/1 as opensea displays a cached, outdated image of the Clock NFT.

But I can definitely add the link somewhere.

Ok - makes sense to use Australian English spelling of everything as Julian is Australian. I myself am Canadian but my spellcheck just turns everything into US English automatically.

Edit: I further updated some text on the main page. Still have to ensure it’s Australian spelling, will do that when everyone is happy with the text otherwise.

Edit 2: Ok everything should be Australian spelling.

A distant memory: the DAO once airdropped an NFT to reward people who fought for Julian’s anti-extradited.
This was a decision of the then-core members, designed by Silk’s friend Aleks, and ultimately a campaign initiated by DAO.
Are we considering adding this to the timeline as well. And emphasize this in future NFT marketing.

The creation of the NFT states “It will allow the NFT owners to be whitelisted for the future drop”. But another tricky issue is creating wallets that are not owned by DAO‘s official, but which will result in transaction taxes being captured by that wallet.
