AIP-13: AssangeDAO Website Content Update

AIP-13: AssangeDAO Website Content Update

zylo.eth author· Jun 10, 2025

Summary

This proposal seeks to update the official AssangeDAO website (http://assangedao.org) with a new draft design hosted at https://clocknft.com/dao/. The update will modernize the homepage and DAO-related content, improving clarity on the DAO’s mission, token economy, governance plans, and current status. Created by community contributor Zylo, the redesign enhances user experience, strengthens public trust, and signals AssangeDAO’s active evolution to the crypto and free speech communities. No changes to smart contracts, domains, or security-critical infrastructure are proposed—only visible content will be updated.

Background

Current Website Status

  • The existing website (http://assangedao.org) contains outdated information on the DAO’s mission, governance, and activities.
  • The current design lacks modern visuals and clear explanations, impacting onboarding for new visitors.
  • Community feedback has emphasized the need for a more accessible and professional interface.

Need for Website Update

  • A modernized website will better communicate AssangeDAO’s ongoing commitment to Julian Assange’s mission.
  • Improved design and content will enhance trust and engagement with both crypto and free speech communities.
  • The update prepares the site for future integrations, such as Snapshot voting, donation options, and treasury dashboards.

AIP-13 Proposal Details

Website Update Process

  1. Ratify AIP-13
  • Following a 10-day discussion period on the AssangeDAO forum, proceed to a 2-day Snapshot vote (5% quorum, simple majority).
  • If ratified, the following steps apply.
  1. Content Deployment
  • The draft website will be uploaded to Github
  • Website maintainers will upload the new static content from the draft site to http://assangedao.org.
  • The update will replace the homepage, mission section, and outdated DAO info pages.
  • All prior content will be archived for transparency.
  1. Future Integrations
  • The new design supports iterative additions, such as Snapshot links, donation options, and treasury dashboards, to be implemented via future proposals.

Alignment with Julian (Consensus Unit)

  • The updated content improves transparency and accessibility, honoring Julian Assange’s mission.
  • No content misrepresents Assange or the DAO’s original intent.
  • The Consensus Unit (e.g., Gabriel Shipton or other representatives) may review the draft for accuracy and alignment with the family’s values if needed.

Technical & Implementation Plan

  • Domain: The domain http://assangedao.org remains unchanged.
  • Content: The new static content (HTML, CSS, and JavaScript) will be uploaded to the existing server…
  • Maintenance: Community maintainers will oversee deployment and ensure uptime post-update.

Communication & Moderation

  • This proposal will be posted on the AssangeDAO forum for community feedback during the 10-day discussion period.
  • Moderators will ensure discussions remain civil and focused.
  • Upon approval, an announcement will be shared across DAO channels (Telegram, Twitter/X, etc.) linking to the updated site.

Voting Options

  • Yes: Approve replacing the current website content with the proposed draft at Assange DAO draft site.
  • No: Keep the existing website content unchanged.

Conclusion

AIP-13 modernizes the AssangeDAO website to better reflect its mission and engage its community. By ratifying this proposal, AssangeDAO can enhance its public presence, improve transparency, and lay the groundwork for future features, all while staying true to Julian Assange’s values.

Awesome, very much looking forward to future assangeDAO organizations!

This is definitely a milestone news, thank you for your efforts. I hope the construction will not stop.

thanks zylo,good job.

The website update proposal has already been discussed thoroughly on the forum for quite some time, with clear consensus from the community. If possible, could we shorten the discussion period and publish it on Snapshot in 2 days? It would help maintain momentum and show that the DAO is capable of timely action when there’s agreement.

Would it be possible to also publish the Freedom Day proposal? June 24 marks the one-year anniversary of Assange’s release, and while we may not have a full event plan yet, the symbolic significance of this date is profound. It would be meaningful for the community to mark it in some way.
As the DAO grows stronger, we’ll have more time and capacity to prepare a more comprehensive set of activities for next year’s Freedom Day.

agree. Everyone has known about this and has been looking forward to it for a long time. We just hope that it can be implemented quickly. There is no need for extra time to discuss it.

Community members do not have the right to propose. If the multi-signatories cannot be updated, I hope to add more proposers and automatically set GTU personnel as proposers. Otherwise, it would be unfair if silk and zylo monopolized the proposal rights.

It has been created on the Snapshot as we have already been discussing this for many days on the forum.

辛苦做事的人得不到认可,一个提案一个建议得不到重视,三天五天出来冒个泡 这就是你们领导人的态度?为什么要对社区这么残忍,你以前承诺的事情你还能兑现吗!

Can you please stop drawing pancakes and fooling around from time to time, or just stop making them. Give me a satisfying sentence, it’s a waste of time to grind and grind

Damn it, family members, dogs, bastards, and animals are inferior.

I’m also frustrated by the lack of progress in the community, But I still ask you to please stay calm. Let’s avoid insults or personal attacks — they won’t help us move forward.

As this proposal fortunately passed, I have asked Mike to get the website changes processed ASAP. As this is not his main occupation and he is usually very busy, this has unfortunately taken a little longer.

Thanks for the update — but what we truly hope for is to see governance fully restored as soon as possible.

New website is up and running with some bugs. @zylo_eth somehow the clock is not showing properly. Mike mentioned something about the javacript.
