其次是DYOR（ Do Your Own Research ），中国国内网友的现状是英语不好，不是所有人都能轻松的阅读和理解英文，也几乎不会去看英语文章，大多数人的消息来源是别人转述。
A lot has happened at AssangeDAO over the past few days, and as a donor from China, I would like to share some of my experiences and thoughts with the community
Ten days ago AssangeDAO appeared on Juicebox and attracted a lot of interest from Chinese people. One pass ten ten pass hundred, many people came to donate to AssangeDAO. There is no denying that the amount, number and activity of Chinese people donating to AssangeDAO is huge, as can be seen from the active people on the Juicebox message boards and discord.
But here is the drama: in contrast to the positive attitude made by the Chinese community at the time of the donation, great damage was done in the later stages of the donation and after its completion also by them. The point of conflict at that time centered on the holding of a second round of donations and the full bid of CLOCK NFT.
At that time rumors and slander abounded: “the project side run away with the money, Assange’s family only cared about the money, 17,000 ETH is enough for many lawsuits, and the money should be used by Assange for several lifetimes”.
Until the price trend of $JUSTICE tokens became the last straw that broke the camel’s back.
So things developed to the point where part of the people demanded: “Kick out the core team, we (Chinese) have to control the direction of DAO.” “Multi-signature must be controlled by Chinese.” “The Chinese community has to elect representatives to negotiate with the project side.” “The project side is not doing things efficiently, they should do what we do.” “The project side does nothing, we have to scold them so they will do things.” “Demand a refund from PAK, and the community Decide how to use the money.” “Sell the CLOCK NFT, the money sold should provide LP”. Unprofessional analysis, not enough research, blindly following others’ advice, fake news abounds, panic, mistrust, and hatred fill every part of the Chinese community. The confrontation between the Chinese community and the core team and Assange’s family reached its peak.
But after the community dialogue on February 15, the Chinese community calmed down a lot. The key factor is that the Chinese community got to know the core team a little bit, got to know Amir, and got to know what AssangeDAO’s core mission is. Although there are still some people who want AssangeDAO to operate according to the business model, most people are starting to be sensible about the future of AssangeDAO and have more consensus with the core team’s goals.
What are we going to learn after this series of events, amidst the endless repetition and bickering? What can we do to communicate most effectively?
First thing is the motivation of this donation, I think we need to start with the motivation for this donation, because in many people’s minds, blockchain is just a place to make money, so no matter for what propose and who started the project, as long as there has tokens, as long as there are many people involved, it is considered to be profitable. and along with this purpose, many people came to AssangeDAO with the encouragement of “community leaders”. In fact, the purpose of inventing blockchain is never to make money, and as the technology develops, the blockchain carries more and more things.
Secondly, DYOR (Do Your Own Research), The current situation of domestic netizens in China is that English is not good. Not everyone can read and understand English easily, and almost cannot read English articles. Most of the sources of information are relayed by others. This can bring two evils: first, the relayer himself may not know all the facts clearly, and thus make wrong decisions; second, the relayer may also maliciously spread rumors and slander, thus achieving the purpose of inciting others for his own benefit. I think it is very important to make your own research even if you are tired and difficult, and only then you will become a wise person.
Then there is the observance of the necessary procedures, whether in a company, an administrative agency, a charitable organization, or a social group, order and process are necessary as the basis for society to be able to work effectively. Therefore, we need to do more research on the series of terms listed on Discord and the official website, and don’t turn a blind eye.
The last thing is to stop using verbal violence and make rational communication. Using any violence will not make people submit to you, only knowledge will do.
Keep the peace and tranquility of the community and let the brainstorming unfold in the community in order to attract more capable people to participate.
I think the most urgent thing for the Chinese community at this stage is to organize a group of honest volunteers to translate the English articles of the core team and Assange’s family, and community processes, future plans and Mr. Assange’s fighting experience., and everything about Assange’s lawsuit, convey the information to everyone accurately and let more Chinese truly understand the spirit of AssangeDAO and Assange.Everyone needs to do the homework, because many people even don’t know who Assange is, and can’t tell the difference between Wikipedia and Wikileaks.
I think these things do not need to be “officially appointed” by anyone to do, the spirit of DAO is to run autonomy from the bottom up, if anyone can do these things directly to do.
Thought on DAO.
From MakerDAO to Uniswap DAO, YGG to ConstitutionDAO and AssangeDAO, we see a development process of DAO from first establishing a company/community and then implementing governance goals, to initiating governance goals and then attracting community members. The breadth of governance has moved from corporate governance to social movement practices. Last year when the Metaverse was on fire I was thinking about what’s in Metaverse, and DAO came to my mind. I think DAO is a continuation of the Enlightenment Thought, and by combining with the Metaverse can carry out social practice activities, if there was a Metaverse and DAO more than 100 years ago, the Paris Commune might run as a communal DAO; some form of social form (capitalist society/communist society) can also be in the Metaverse by previewing it in the form of a DAO. Various valuable lessons are drawn from the previews in the Metaverse.
A healthy DAO governance requires that its members are interested in and willing to commit to its core mission.
A DAO with a mission will do everything to serve that mission and will not turn its attention to the price of Tokens, unless the DAO is set up for the price of Tokens. Token’s role is only reflected in the governance of voting interests.
The DAO is established with a core mission, its success or failure depends on reaching the core mission and getting rich experience and wide influence.
DAO as a cross-border inter-ethnic organization, there should be no Chinese community, no foreign community, language and geographical location should not be the reason for special, we should be united as one, to reach one goal. As a decentralized autonomous organization, there should be no “leader” as a “center”.
Although I think so much, but no one can really define what is the real DAO, what is the perfect DAO. everything needs the development of history to prove, and we are the writers of this history.
When we donate, do we know what donation really means and what benefits we can get from it? Even if we do investment, do we understand the background, process, sponsor, and investors of the project?
On the issue of starting the second round of donations, because it is a donation, the donated party will not guarantee any income to the donor, so more money can do more things, which is a good side for the party who started the donation. Do we consider the ethical issues when facing this issue? Or hold on to what they says?
If you joined a DAO to save a mother in Xuzhou who was chained up and gave birth to eight children, would you be able to say the filthy language I quoted at the beginning of this article?
